As if there wasn't enough jargon, I heard another term that threw me for a loop - ORAC.
"ORAC? Like the killer whale Shamu at Sea World?"
No, that's ORCA
ORAC stands for Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity and it's the measurement of a food's effectiveness in fighting free radical damage and oxidation.
Pretty cool, huh? Simply put, the higher the number the more effective the food is at being an antioxidant.
